Don’t go to the Jolly Holiday Lights display in Des Moines thinking you’re going to be wowed by the spectacle, because you won’t be. The 15^th annual event, which benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa, is a nice cause, but it’s hardly impressive. The drive through Water Works Park offers a series of lighted holiday scenes with no apparent theme, and for the most part the scenes are of similar quality as those you see in residential neighborhoods these days. Have they updated it at ALL in 15 years? For $10 a car, I expected more. Jolly Holiday Lights continues through Jan. 1.
